My experience with Apple's demo for Vision Pro
The quality is so much more crisp in real life!

Script

I just came from the Apple Store today and tried the Vision Pro:
Apple’s mixed reality headset. This was my experience. Day 1 of release and the wait list was only an hour wait. It’s a 30 minute demo and the employees seemed to know a lot about it already but when it came to some things outside the demo like editing on MacBook Pro, it was limited which is understandable for the first day of release.

The demo was very detailed in structure, and starts with teaching gestures, the parts, and how to handle it. Then fitting it for comfort,
which seems like common sense but actually saved me time with specific instructions. Like Raising the band on the back upwards if glasses are pressing on your forehead too much, and down if it’s pressing hard on your cheeks. The back dial here tightens the strap. The other type of band wasn’t available to demo at the time.

Setup
The Setup; where Vision Pro could get to know my hands and eyes was cooler in person than seeing it on a YouTube review.

Basic functions and features
Like navigation, scrolling, animations. Seeing through to real life was definitely AR and was actually captured by the outer cameras which I could tell were good quality cameras because this was like 8k resolution.

I hear other YouTubers comment on how horrible seeing the edges of the screen are, but I didn’t even noticed it while having the experience!
Like I felt I had a good amount of view.

Though the bigger YouTubers were so not exaggerating on how immersive and new this feels…
Going through the 4 apps.

Photos, TV, and Safari

Photos
Like The photos app
Definitely was a newer experience than ever before being so immersive
Especially in panorama shots, which we saw different scenes on!
I am surely taking more panoramas for now on…
now that I feel more like I’m actually inside of them!
- 3d photos called “spatial photos”
- 3d videos called “spatial videos”
- It seemed the spatial video shot with the Vision Pro is was more 3d and realistic than one shot with 15 pro
I tried to see if I could go through the photos and you could but a pop up warns you that you are.

BTW the guide could see everything that I could see…
Which probably means we could project or screen onto other devices!
It would be cool to watch a show with someone on Apple TV!

Safari
Safari was still as nice and crisp in quality as everything else!
Scrolling takes more energy on vision pro than other devices…
and can probably turn into a workout over time.

Something randomly interesting was when I turned the Digital Crown, it would sort turn turn my gimbal slightly!
So maybe it sends out some kind of signal. (16:57)

Yummly
We opened the Yummly app to show that 3rd party apps work with vision pro.

TV
The tv app had 3-d movies
Although Super Mario in 3-d, which I love didn’t impress me much
More realistic content that wasn’t a cartoon
Popped out more
Like the demo real they had
was better than watching a 3d movie in theaters
But not as immersive as the “spatial video” demo shot on vision pro
Alicia keys felt and the girl on the tight rope felt like they were really looking at me!

Comfort
After 20 minutes it felt tight and by the end of the session

Conclusion:
This demo was helpful, exciting and fun! The guide made the script her own exciting presentation!

New discoveries:
- fitting
- Some navigation like reentering the Home Screen, Scrolling, zooming in and out is like pinching a curtain open.
- Stacking windows + switching apps is just looking at the window you want and pinching. Intuitive intuitive than clicking with a mouse.
- Switching apps helped me realize this would be really good for multitasking and when my memory isn’t so great because I could just naturally look around to see what apps I have open without having to think of a gesture to see everything.
- …thus helping with productivity

Wish I tried
- typing,
- dictating and searching safari using my voice,
- switching environments to replace the background.
- Making a Persona for FaceTime which is sort of an avatar you use to represent you in calls.
