As an alternative to gastric sleeve bypass, a new procedure called Single Anastomosis Duodenal-Ileal Bypass (SADI) has been introduced for cases where patients continue to gain weight after a sleeve gastrectomy. Dr. Choi provides a detailed explanation of how this procedure works.

Dr. Michael P. Choi is a board-certified surgeon, specializing in a variety of bariatric surgery procedures. He is credentialed at Broward Health Imperial, Broward Health Medical, and Broward Health North, currently a member of the American Osteopathic Association and the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, and licensed to practice medicine in the state of Florida, New York, and California.

What is SADI Surgery?

What is a SADI? SADI is involved after a sleeve gastrectomy has failed or the patient is put on weight. What do we do? We will hook or make an anastomosis from the intestines to the duodenum and we will count back from the ileum area 300 centimeters or some people like to go more and make a new connection here at the duodenum and connect the ileum or the small bowel to make that bypass.
