Want to make your own solid metal book at home? I'll show you how I created this metal Halloween spell book by melting down some scrap aluminum. I started by modeling up the book cover in Fusion 360 and made sure it was functional by adding in the hinges and pins. I then 3D printed the front, back and spine of the book cover so I could make a mold of it in sand. After making the mold, I melted down some scrap aluminum ingots and poured the molten metal into the mold. The book pieces were then cleaned up and I drilled holes in the hinges and used nails that I filed down to act as pins. I then found a spell book online, printed it out and folded all the pages in half (which took a while cause there was over 200). I glued all pages together to bind them and used a piece of carpet tape to hold them into the spine of the book cover. I used carpet tape because it is very sticky and if I ever want to swap out the pages, I can easily remove them without ruining the book spine.
