In this Indonesia Travel Vlog, we leave Toraja and head back towards Makassar for our last days in Indonesia. We took the most amazing night bus from Toraja, but we didn't realize how our homestay had told them to let us off in Rammang Rammang! We arrived at Rammang Rammang in the middle of the night quite confused 😅 luckily we were able to get to our amazing new homestay where we had the BEST weekend ever before leaving Indonesia!!!
We stayed at Nasrul Homestay in Rammang Rammang. Nasrul is an amazing guide who has turned his local family house into a homestay. It was such an amazing experience to live like a local while we were in Indonesia, and we also had the most amazing home cooked food! (If you want to contact Nasrul, his instagram is @nasrul_yoel )
When we woke up the following morning, we met the other guests who were staying at Nasrul's house. We had an amazing breakfast together before starting our tour of Rammang Rammang! We were able to walk from Nasrul's house to the stone forest. The stone forest at Rammang Rammang is an UNESCO site and also the second biggest Karst mountain range in the world (after one in China)! It was amazing to walk between all the limestone cliffs and see how gorgeous the natural landscape was. The only negative was the giant spiders that you could find in the caves! Nasrul picked up a dead one to show us just what was living around us. After leaving the forest we went to the Rammang Rammang boat dock to take a boat to Berua Village. The boat ride was so nice! We went under a little cave and through more stone formations before arriving at the Berua Village. The village is extremely small! It can only be accessed by boat and has two homestays in it. We were able to walk along the amazing boardwalks before we got some coconuts to take a break in the shade before we continued our tour. We were even lucky enough to see some monkeys! From the Berua Village we took the boat back to the karst labyrinth. We were able to walk around the amazing rock formations that are so easy to get lost in! The views were gorgeous as well. After the labyrinth we headed back to the boat dock to eat the famous blue nasi goreng at Second House. It was so good! We left the restaurant and had to hike very quickly to the famous fireflies cave, with a stop on the way to see the leaves that look like blood when they're wet! The fireflies cave had two steep ladders to get into it and at the top of the second ladder there was a HUGE SPIDER!!!! I turned around to wait outside and just look at the pictures from Carles 😅 the pictures were amazing. Lastly we went to the highest cafe in Rammang Rammang to watch the sunset and wait for the millions of bats that leave their cave at the same time every day. It was such as amazing experience! We left with views of so many stars in Rammang Rammang before we arrived home to some fresh grilled fish for out last meal together. We had such a great time in Rammang Rammang and especially at Nasrul's!
