A new tropical cyclone is forming in the eastern Indian Ocean, not far from the coast of Western Australia. With its circulation becoming more apparant today, the new cyclone is expected to start strengthening considerably, and is likely to reach a Category 2 peak on the Saffir Simpson Scale (Category 3 or 4 AU). Thankfully, the storm does not pose a large threat to land, with its small size and anticipated movement parallel to the coast. Rainfall is also expected to be light, but rough seas and rip currents could catch people out from the central Kimberly westwards to Exmouth this weekend and early next week.
