Jubilee Suites boutique bed and breakfast is located on 200 feet of beachfront on Mobile Bay. The Jubilee Suites building has had a long and rich history with a variety of owners dating back to World War II when it was built. Its history is intertwined with the history of the Volanta neighborhood where it is located. Enjoy the fascinating story as it is told by local author and historian, Alan Samry.

A few highlights: Back in 1910-12, just a few years after Fairhope became an official city in 1908, early developers bought some raw bayfront land in what is known as the Volanta neighborhood just north of downtown Fairhope. They built the Volanta Hotel and pier to accommodate potential investors and visitors to the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay who arrived by bay boat. Lured by adventure and perhaps good deals on land, these guests stayed at the Volanta Hotel, just a few doors down the street from what is now Jubilee Suites boutique bed & breakfast. Many came to shop for lots for homes or businesses in this brand new neighborhood.

As the neighborhood grew, more homes and hotels were built on N. Mobile Street in Fairhope. One such business was the El Nathan hotel, the original home of what is now Jubilee Suites. The Shoop family wanted to build a hotel during WWII but building supplies were limited. So they bought a government barracks building in Chickasaw, AL, trucked it over to Volanta to assemble as a hotel, and set up a family hotel business hosting newcomers, visitors, and local residents with meals, lodging, and events. Eventually, the Shoop family sold the hotel, which never did very well financially and a long line of managers and owners stepped in to try to do better with name changes and a variety of amenities. It was years before the hotel was profitable for any of its owners. The current owners, Dana and Jim Maloney came to Fairhope in 2017 to be close to family and bought the successful Away At The Bay bed and breakfast from the Gravlee family. After extensive rejuvenation of the interior and exterior of the building, the Maloney's opened Jubilee Suites in April 2018.
