Claiming the title of "World's Best Hot Hatch" is difficult when competitors such as the Honda Civic Type-R exist, but doing so is especially tough when the car in question isn't even a hatchback such as in this case of the Hyundai Elantra N. Technicalities, eh? But while the Elantra N might have a traditional trunk, it does come with a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 sending up to 286 horsepower and 289 lb-ft of torque to it's front wheels. "Up to" as those numbers are only achieved for a limited timing using the NGS "N Grin Shift" mode. This specific Canadian 2023 Hyundai Elantra N is equipped with the 7-speed DCT, and not with the standard manual transmission.

Can this Hyundai Elantra N live up to the amazing performance that the N-team achieved with the Hyundai i30N and Hyundai Veloster N? Does it have the same playful character and pair it to an incredibly capable, yet affordable daily driver? And how does it compare to the more powerful Honda Civic Type-R and upcoming Toyota GR Corolla? Find out in today's review!
