Vancouver Fraser Medical Program student, Ellie Parton, acknowledges she wasn't the greatest student growing up. Upon becoming a young mother at the age of 16, Ellie wanted to become a role model to her daughter. Ellie kept raising the academic bar higher and higher for herself, including being accepted into the UBC FOM MD Undergraduate Program. Ellie's journey to becoming a resident has made her not only a role model for her daughter, but a role model to future Indigenous medical students throughout British Columbia.
