Inspired by online educational video platforms, Motsi's work “MASTERS” delves into the production and distribution of moving images in a digitised post-pandemic world.
The film tells the story of Mr. Clarke, a retired Black independent filmmaker who receives an invitation from the controversial online edutainment platform called “Masters”. However, the collaboration spirals out of control as the startup's agenda disrupts and redefines the protagonists' relationship with knowledge, education and community.
Through this narrative short-film, Motsi analyses and criticises processes of knowledge formation, particularly how institutions define learning, who has access to education, and how it is disseminated.

Inspiriert von Online-Video-Plattformen erkundet Motsi in seiner Arbeit „MASTERS” Bewegtbilder in einer digitalisierten post-pandemischen Welt.
Der Film erzählt die Geschichte von Mr. Clarke, einem pensionierten Schwarzen Filmemacher, der eine Einladung von der kontroversen Online-Edutainment-Plattform „Masters“ erhält. Die Zusammenarbeit gerät jedoch außer Kontrolle, als das Start-up das Verhältnis der Protagonist*innen zu Wissen, Studium und Gemeinschaft auf den Kopf stellt.
Dabei analysiert und kritisiert der Kurzfilm die Prozesse der Wissensbildung sowie Definition und Zugang zu Bildungsinstitutionen.
