This was a close to home drive, and includes a portion I did not long ago on one of my snowy day drives. But that day, I only had my Subaru, and this particular road is more suited to a 4x4 truck. Not that a car can’t make it, but the mud, the potholes and the miniature lake sized puddles a can easily intimidate and cause the possibility of breaking something or worse—getting stuck.

And that’s what logging roads are all about. The challenge of driving them, to go beyond where the crowds and the masses travel to see the mountains. There is something a little more personal about taking the road less traveled, and it’s always fun.

The North Fork Road is pretty well known, and is one that wriggles its way through the eye catching beauty of the Cascade foothills, land known well for its long time logging industry. Also there is a snippet here as a filming location for Northern Exposure, episode #4 I believe. Fun facts! Anyways…to me, it’s a rugged, challenging drive and while not incredibly exciting as a video subject, it was still a good time.

I am grateful to be able to live this mountain life, I get out often to experience it, oftentimes for nothing more than taking in the view and appreciating its existence. That’s how to clear a mind, and open a heart. Not everything has to evoke emotion.. but nature should always evoke.. peace. I think that’s about it for today. Enjoy the bumpy ride, I hurt my hands a few times filming it. Lol. Thank goodness for built in stabilization! Got some good stuff coming up as the Pacific Northwest wakes up from her winters nap. Until then my friends…
I’ll catch ya next time!♥️
