We rented an RV!! We were thinking about buying one but figured that renting would be a great way to test out the waters before we made the plunge.

If you want some more details on the final cost breakdowns etc I will put my full review on our website. https://vanboardbike.com/outdoorsy-rv... Oh and if you just want to see me dump the black tank jump to about 6:30 in :)

We initially looked at cruise america but the RVs they had seemed somewhat basic and not really representative of what we wanted to buy.
Then we found Outdoorsy and RV Share. Those sites are kinda like AIRBNB for RVs. It allows you to rent in some cases the exact RV you want to buy. We ended up getting a 2008 Winnebago Chalet 29T Class C (thats the ones with the bed over the cab). The outdoorsy website was really easy to navigate and find what was available near us. Once we found what we liked we reserved it and then setup a time to meet with the Owner and pick up the rig. The owner did a great job of walking over all of the systems before he sent us off on our own.
Once we got on the road it quickly started driving like a normal van, you really only noticed the size with strong cross winds. The first time we stopped for gas we got our first glimpse about how awesome RV life could be, I just walked back in the cab and hung out for a few minutes on the couch with my wife. It was so comfortable, it was amazing! Just to be able to really relax like that, and even lay down for just 5 minutes can really help on a road trip, I was hooked!

We ended up driving to our favorite campground, Huntington Beach State Park near Murrells Inlet SC. Once we were all setup it was like having our own beach house, just a couple blocks from the beautiful deserted beaches of the state park. It was hot when we got there and we really enjoyed the AC. Halfway through the trip a cold front brought some really high winds and rain, the huge awning was amazing and the furnace could not have been better, talk about glamping!

We did have a few issues, the fridge and hot water heater didnt work and we lost a hub cap somewhere along the way. Since the campgound had ice and we had coolers the fridge wasnt too big of a deal but my wife was not too happy about the cold shower lol. Even with that we were hooked, and if nothing else it helped us to know more of what to look for when looking for our own RV!
