The Centro Stile designers have been working on a smart solution with identical dimensions to the cabrio and hatchback versions, but with a small third door on the passenger side. Just like the first 500 in 1957, which featured doors hinged to the rear: a return to the model’s roots in a fruitful dialog between past and future. The result is a new body, to add to the hatchback and cabrio, with unchanged dimensions and not a single centimeter added to the footprint.

The third ‘small door’ opens in the opposite direction, and given the lack of a center panel in the door itself, means you can jump in more comfortably, load and unload large items more easily and put your child on the back seat or booster seat in a quicker and more straightforward way. Once you've closed the small door, there's no difference from any other #Fiat #500: the same style, the same size. All this with a weight increase of only 30 kg, with no effect on the car’s handling or fuel consumption.

In terms of safety, it’s worth noting that the ‘small third door’ can only be opened with the front door already open, to ensure the rear passengers can't open it by accident.

As for the electric powertrain, Fiat has announced a base ‘Action’ model that features a 23.8 kWh lithium-ion battery powering a 70 kW (95 PS / 94 HP) electric motor. 0-100 km/h takes 9.5 seconds and the top speed is limited to 135 km/h (84 mph). These models offer a range of more than 180 km (111 miles) as per WLTP. The 500 Action is equipped with a 50-kW fast charging system that charges the battery with around 50 km (30 miles) in less than 10 minutes.

Fiat 500 Passion mid-range model and 500 Icon range-topper get a bigger 42 kWh battery pack that powers an electric motor rated at 87 kW (116 HP / 118 PS) and 220 Nm (162 lb-ft) of torque. The 0-100 km/h sprint takes 9.0 seconds and the top speed is limited to 150 km/h (93 mph). More importantly, the WTLP-rated range is 320 km (199 miles). 85 kW fast charging comes standard, enabling a flat battery to reach 80 percent in 35 minutes, or 50 km (30 miles) in around 5 minutes.
Prices in Italy for the 2021 Fiat 500 start from €19,900 ($23,550) for the base Action model with the smaller battery, including a €6,000 ($7,100) government incentive.
