If you have a HONDA hf1211 ride on, and you are having starting problems, want to know about the micro switches that allow the engine to start, or want to test the solenoid or starter motor, or if you want to replace the starter motor or solenoid, I’ll talk you through how I did it in this video.

With a basic toolkit a breaker bar and pry bar, you can remove the flywheel. The starter mounting bolts are located underneath the flywheel.

You’ll need an electrician multimeter to test the switches and starter solenoid.

This mower was made in 2004, so next year will be 20 years old. It has had a replacement cutter deck, but I think the starter motor is the original. May this new one provide 19 more years or service.

I will be fixing the leaks which turn the underside of this mower into a sludgy mess, one on the transaxle expansion tank, and one near the ill-fitting oil filler tube, which needs adjusting.
