This is a Motormouth couple car review of the Lincoln Corsair PHEV plug-in hybrid compact SUV. If you are looking for another plug-in hybrid option in the luxury category, take a look at the Lincoln Corsair Grand Touring. The Corsair PHEV has a 2.5L 4-cylinder hybrid system with an eCVT, 266 combined horsepower and 45 km/28 miles of EV range, standard AWD.
Fuel economy is very good getting 3.1Le/100km, 78 MPGe combined. When the battery is depleted, you will get 6.9L/100km, 34 MPG city, 7.3L/100km, 32 MPG highway and 7L/100km, 33 MPG combined.
The Lincoln Corsair PHEV comes standard with adaptive suspension giving it a smooth and comfortable ride with a quiet cabin which is typical of a Lincoln and a priority for the brand. It soaks up the speed bumps and other road imperfections. There are plenty of standard features like an 8” touchscreen with Sync 3, a 12.3” colour display, Apple Carplay and Android Auto, heated power driver and passenger seats, driver seat memory, leather trimmed upholstery, a panoramic sunroof and a 17” spare tire. Available features include, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, wireless charger, ambient lighting, hands-free tailgate, head-up display and a 14-speaker Revel audio system. Our test model in Artisan Blue has all the extra features including Lincoln Co-Pilot 360 1.5 Plus which includes features like a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assist and lane centering assist. Overall, we find the Corsair PHEV to be a good-looking SUV that is comfortable and spacious. I am impressed by how little the gas engine comes on when in EV mode. There are a few things I don’t like, I find the button shifter to be too far away, every time you shift, you have to lean forward. I also find for this price point the 8” touchscreen is too small when non-luxury brands have larger screen options and wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, the Corsair only wired. The Corsair PHEV qualifies for an EV rebate of $2,500 in Canada and a tax credit up to $7500 in the US. The Corsair Plug-in Hybrid starts at $59,700 CAD/$51,810 USD. Price as test $69,500
