THIS CAR IS EXTREMELY RARE AND COMPLETELY MATCHING NUMBERS!

This seductive 1965 Chevrolet Biscayne 409/400HP 4-spd is extremely rare and completely original matching numbers. In 1965, only 2,828 Chevrolet’s models were equipped with a 409 V8. Of those, 2,086 were the 340HP version and 742 were the 400HP version. This example is one of the 742 with 400HP. It’s estimated that only 20 Biscayne’s were built with a 409 V8 and only a few exist today. From the information gathered this car was ordered by a GM employee as a “special order” which was similar to a COPO. It was ordered with a Dunube Blue Metallic exterior and Fawn interior. It was also ordered as a Convenience Package delete car which eliminated the exterior mirrors and backup lights. A previous owner purchased the car in 1971 and parked it in 1975. During that time it was lightly “hot rodded” with hood pins, aftermarket gauges and air cleaner. After 35 years of ownership the previous owner sold the car on eBay to a gentleman named Paul Burt in 2006. The car was in very good original condition with 81,000 original miles. Photos of the car in its original state of condition at time of sale are included and presented in the photo gallery. The photos clearly document its originality which is worth its weight in gold. Paul sent the car to Steve Miller of Classic Restorations Plus of Rockford, IL in 2007 for a rotisserie nut and bolt restoration. Steve completed the car is roughly 8 months and the photos of the restoration are included. In later 2007, the car was shown at Chevy Vettefest where it was a Gold Spinner award winner. The award is not included. In February 2008, it was featured in Muscle Car Review magazine which is included. This car is a great example of authentic 1965 Chevrolet Biscayne 409/400HP 4-speed that is completely matching numbers. A list with a breakdown of all the numbers including photos is listed in the photo gallery. This is truly a “Blue Chip” investment no pun intended.

The exterior of this car is in beautiful condition and has a seductive look. It’s a total sleeper! It retains all the original sheet metal throughout. Only minor patch work was required to the hood where the hood pins were and to the lower rear quarters. The body is very straight and the hood, doors and trunk lid close like they should from a factory original car. The car was refinished in its original color of Dunube Blue Metallic which is stunning. This color changes depending on the lighting which really pops. The paint was recently detailed to a show quality shine. It has a new PPG Sunshade Solex front windshield. The vent glass, door glass, quarter glass and rear glass is in excellent original condition with factory “Safety Plate” stamps.

The interior of this car is also in beautiful condition throughout. It’s spacious and very comfortable. It was re-finished in its original Fawn color which is multi-colored. Everything in the interior is in working order with exception of the AM radio which lights up but doesn’t play. Even the heating system and engine cold light works! The trunk compartment was completely restored and looks very clean. It was re-finished with the correct style trunk splatter paint and outfitted with a correct style trunk mat.

The engine compartment is highly detailed throughout with many correct parts. The firewall, inner fenders and radiator support were re-finished in gloss black. The factory assembly line markings were added. The car is powered by its original matching numbers 409 V8 that was factory rated with 400HP. The engine was completely rebuilt and runs excellent with a capital E. This engine was factory built with 11:1 compression and solid lifter cam. The engine breathes through factory manifolds and a new stainless steel dual exhaust system that sound sweet. The engine is coupled to the original matching numbers Muncie 4-speed manual transmission. The transmission was completely rebuilt and shifts precisely through the gears. The clutch was also replaced and is smooth to operate. The power is transferred to the original matching 12-bolt open rear end with 3.31 gears.

The undercarriage is also highly detailed throughout with many correct parts. The frame and floors were re-finished in black.
