Today I became homeless.
I sat in front of a supermarket. Anybody who just acknowledged me or gave me 1$, I paid their entire grocery bill.

Here are my learnings:

- I made around 5 USD per hour
- I became invisible for almost everybody.
- People who have the least, helped me most.
- It wasn’t what people did that hurt me most. It was what they didn’t do. They stopped hearing me.
- Mothers showed most empathy helping with food and clothes, instead of money.
- I have never felt this safe. Nobody would want anything from me.
- There are other homeless people whose territory you might be invading, literally becoming competition.
- When people give money, they neither look at you, nor talk. They just give and leave.
- After 4 hours sitting on the floor, my bones started hurting.
- The eyes never lie. Look at them.
- Never look down on the homeless. You might be in their situation one day. You never know what they have gone through. My mother always says that anyone could be in a worse situation in a blink of an eye. You are only a car accident away from being disabled, an economic downturn away from being poor, a fight away from being aesthetically unpleasant or a country border away from being discriminated against.
