⭐⭐ Not everything is bad.... 😁
Ford have apparently designed a 4WD system that is unusable on the road but justify this by saying that the Ranger is designed to be driven off road!!! You can't use the 4WD without the Diff being locked which means when turning, the Ranger stops dead because the wheels need to be rotating at different speeds. The only way you can move forward at this point is to rev the engine, probably damaging the Diff and certainly the tyres. Common sense to me and every other manufacturer to have the Diff unlocked on the road but not to Ford apparently. Range Rover, Mitsubishi and all the other manufacturers of 4WD vehicles that I have owned allow for the Diff to only be locked in 4WD Low Ratio which is fine BUT NOT IN 4WD HIGH RATIO!!!! Uncontrollable, dangerous, deathtrap but Ford are happy with that.... I'm sure it says in the Highway Code that you need to be in control of the vehicle at all times, how can you be in control of a Ford Ranger when you are having to rev it so much just to get it moving.
Unfortunately, all Ford will tell me is that this is the way it is designed, to be an accident waiting to happen, apparently.
You use 4WD on roads that have variable conditions, you don't know when you are going to need that extra traction! To say you only use 4WD off road is ridiculous Mr Ford Top Tech Guy.

*Update 3* I've changed the title, but it still reflects my concern. Thanks for all the constructive feedback and tuition from some of you. It really is a shame Ford UK, and their Main Dealers know less about their own vehicles than the owners. This would never have been posted if they did.

*Update 2* So many 'experts' commenting. Shame the experts at Ford didn't have the answers you guys have given. I'm pretty easy going through but I don't accept that because it has always been that way it should never change. 21st century engineering means that I should be able to have 4WD when I want it and for the car not to be dangerous when it is engaged on tarmac. It's a pity there are dinosaurs that like the Anglo-Saxon phrases so much, and just accept things. My 10 yo son is more open minded than some of the commenters. Some good comments though 😁

*Update* Lots of angry 4x4 and Ford fans on here. Only pointing out that nowhere does it say, 'YOU CAN'T DRIVE THIS IN 4x4 ON THE ROAD WITHOUT KILLING YOU or the VEHICLE'..
