The collapse of Silicon Valley Bank and other mid-size banks has focused attention on the fragility of the banking system and the role played by disclosures about fair market valuations of bank assets. Professor Rahul Vashishtha discussed whether this disclosure requirement, aimed at offering greater transparency, is having an unintended impact of making some banks more fragile.
