A marking gauge is very handy for laying out woodworking joinery. While a wooden stick with a scratch pin can get the job done, a sharp cutting wheel gives much cleaner results.


Of course it is also nicer to have an over-engineered metal tool, so I collected some scraps from the bottom of my materials pile and gave it a go. In this video I also tried my hand drill lathe for the first time. I've had it lying around for ages but never dared to use it. In the end it turned out quite well, I think.
