In this video, I open up about a low period I went through for quite a while last year and earlier this year. I talk about personal issues regarding childhood sexual abuse, death and grieving, alcohol abuse and my 10 month anniversary of sobriety, the upcoming holiday season, what helped my severe depression, talking with a therapist, a psychiatrist and getting a prescription for Zoloft.

When I was feeling severely depressed, I was angry, cried every day, felt hopeless, had scary thoughts of possibly ending my life, didn't see any hope for the future, I couldn't concentrate on my work well AT ALL. It was as if my mind and body just shut down and I wasn't able to live.

It eventually got better -- but I had to ask for help from several people -- I think of it as, I had to fight for myself. This year is so much better for me than last year was. I think the more we all speak up about mental health and share our experiences the less stigmatized this issue will become.
