Today, we're going to talk about a common health issue that many women face worldwide: Polycystic Ovarian Disease, or PCOD. Now, PCOD can be a challenge but don't worry. I'm going to share some natural ways to manage and potentially help improve this condition.

PCOD, or Polycystic Ovarian Disease, is a hormonal disorder common among women of reproductive age. Women with PCOD may have infrequent or prolonged menstrual periods and higher levels of male hormones. It can cause multiple small cysts in the ovaries, leading to various health issues, including infertility.

Now, let see how to treat PCOD naturally.

Manage your diet:
Women with PCOS are often found to have higher than normal insulin levels. A diet high in
refined carbohydrates, such as starchy and sugary foods, can cause insulin resistance.
Therefore avoid processed and refined foods such as white flour, sugar, breads and pasta.
Here’s how you should plan your diet for your day.
• Start your day with a glass of lukewarm water infused with the juice of half a lemon and a spoonful of honey.
• Have fruits like apples, oranges, bananas, grapes, or have a glass of milk between your lunch and breakfast.
• For lunch, opt for a nutritious bowl of steamed vegetables seasoned with vegetable oil or butter and salt. Pair it with whole wheat chapatis or Jowar/Ragi Rotis and complement the meal with a refreshing glass of buttermilk.
• Have light snacks in late afternoon like poha or juices.
• Your dinner should be light and you should have your dinner at least 2 hours before sleep. Dinner should be again light and preferably soups or salads. Create a salad using fresh vegetables like tomatoes, carrots, beetroots, and sprouted moong or Bengal gram.

In addition to a well-balanced diet, certain foods can provide added benefits for managing PCOD. Consider including nutrient-rich options such as spinach, other dark leafy greens, broccoli, cauliflower, and berries like blueberries, blackberries, and cherries. Incorporating nuts like flaxseeds, sunflower seeds, and pumpkin seeds can also be beneficial. Remember to avoid excessive fat, spicy foods, strong tea, coffee, white sugar, white flour, and refined cereals. Stay hydrated by drinking at least 8 to 10 glasses of water each day, as proper hydration is essential for overall well-being.

2. The second step is Exercise.
Regular exercise can help regulate your menstrual cycle and improve insulin sensitivity. So, practice following asanas regularly.

1. Vajrasana: Sitting in this posture aids digestion, improves metabolism, and reduces abdominal fat.
2. Paryankasana: This reclining pose helps regulate hormonal balance and reduces stress levels.
3. Matsyasana: Also known as the Fish pose, it stretches the abdominal muscles, stimulates the thyroid gland, and helps alleviate menstrual irregularities.
4. Ustrasana: The Camel pose opens up the chest and abdomen, improves digestion, and strengthens the reproductive organs.
5. Ardha Matsyendrasana: It increases the flexibility of the spine, massages the abdominal organs, and stimulates the ovaries.
6. Paschimottanasana: This seated forward bend stretches the lower back and pelvic region, promoting hormonal balance and reducing menstrual discomfort.
7. Bhadrasana: It can be done either in supone position or sitting. This asana helps stimulate the ovaries and improves blood circulation in the pelvic area.
8. Balasana: The Child's pose helps release tension, relaxes the mind and body, and promotes hormonal balance.
9. Pavanmuktasana: Known as the Wind-Relieving pose, it aids digestion, relieves bloating, and reduces abdominal fat.
10. Viparitkarni: This pose improves blood circulation to the pelvic region, reduces stress, and balances hormones.
11. Abdominal breathing and Bhramari pranayama: Deep abdominal breathing and the Bee Breath technique help calm the mind, reduce stress, and balance hormone levels.
I suggest you practice all of these asanas or even any one of the asanas every day. It can help you overcome PCOD quickly.

3. Stress Management. PCOD can be a stressful condition to manage. Engaging in mindfulness practices, like yoga and meditation, can help manage your stress levels. Sleep has a significant impact on our hormones and overall health. Make sure you're getting quality sleep every night.
Follow all these tips and you can definitely see positive results in your condition. Most important of all is staying happy. So, stay positive and stay happy all the time. Namaste!
