On 6 June 1997, Diana, Princess of Wales visited the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, also known as the Neasden Temple, in Neasden, London. Having been built only two years before Diana's visit, Neasden Temple was the largest Hindu temple outside India. The Princess of Wales was greeted by local community leaders as well as schoolchildren, before being welcomed inside. Her wonder at the temple's design was evident as she toured the place of worship.
