Mariah Carey wrote on Twitter, ‘Hallelujah!’ Chris Evans said, ‘Justice. Sending love to George Floyd’s family and friends.’ Chauvin has been taken into custody and now awaits sentencing. Floyd was handcuffed and lying on the ground as Chauvin kneeled on him for nine minutes and 29 seconds on May 25, 2020. Floyd died at the scene. His death ignited protests around the world, and sparked a national discussion about law enforcement reform. In addition, a number of celebrities and companies within the entertainment industry publicly announced their support for the Black Lives Matter movement.
