In today's video we deep dive into the most common signs of ECU or control module failure.

The Engine Control Unit (ECU) is alternatively referred to as the Engine Control Module (ECM). Its primary function is to receive input from engine sensors, which it processes to regulate engine performance. This involves making adjustments to parameters such as the air/fuel mixture, fuel consumption, and combustion sparks.

A failing or faulty Engine Control Unit (ECU) or Engine Control Module (ECM) can cause a range of symptoms in a vehicle. These may include warning lights on the dashboard such as the Check Engine Light, engine misfires, rough idling, stalling, decreased fuel efficiency, and poor acceleration. Additionally, the vehicle may experience difficulty starting, or it may fail to start altogether. In some cases, the ECU or ECM may cause the engine to run too rich or too lean, leading to issues such as increased emissions, overheating, or damage to engine components. If you notice any of these symptoms, it is recommended to have your vehicle diagnosed by a qualified mechanic to determine the cause and extent of the issue.

We also cover just a few of the things the ECM does, including: Optimizing the air to fuel ratio, automatically injects fuel to reach optimum level for performance, and corrects ignition timing. All in all, the ECM is extremely important for your cars health and performance.
