In a recent rewatch of past episodes of #WhenCallsTheHeart, I was inspired to tell this story of Elizabeth’s very real struggle with fear. Often what many of us fear most doesn’t actually come to pass, but for Elizabeth what she feared most did in fact happen. She lost her husband after only a brief time together. It was devastating for her. And rightly so. I’ve said before the rewatch of seasons gave me a renewed empathy for Elizabeth. Yes, she’s made mistakes, “blown things up” at times, and ran away from potential great joy, all in an effort to protect herself and her heart from experiencing such loss and pain again… and, yes, others were hurt and heartbroken in the process. Yet, I still find myself rooting for her to be free from the burden and entrapment of this very real fear. Fear and insecurity can be quite paralyzing. It’s one thing to work through a fear that hasn’t happened, but quite something else to overcome one that has. The beauty found in Elizabeth’s journey to freedom from this struggle with fear, is she doesn’t have to walk it alone. Love is there to help her drive it away.

And in life, neither do we have to face it alone.
