I recently fulfilled a childhood dream: to own a Rolls-Royce! In this video you will see my initial panic, followed by the sumptuous pay-off: a 1986 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur.

I know they are ostentatious, and pretentious. I know they are classist and generally over the top. But they are beautiful cars. Hand built from the finest materials. They are luxurious as well as astonishing pieces of engineering.

When this car was new, it cost as much as a house did at the time. 35 years later, I bought it for pennies on the dollar, a fraction of the what it cost new.

This is the first in a series of videos I'll be making about owning, maintaining, and driving this Proper Motor Car.
