On Thursday, November 11, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. Bart Ehrman debate Dinesh D'Souza about the different issues related to God and Suffering. "This was a good opportunity to hear two nationally-recognized thinkers tackle some difficult issues," said Dan Russ, academic dean at Gordon and director of the Center for Christian Studies. "Both of their perspectives will no doubt raise interesting questions and foster healthy discussions among our community. The Gordon College debate was sponsored by the Center for Christian Studies.

Named by the New York Times Magazine as one of America's most influential conservative thinkers, Dinesh D'Souza is a former policy analyst in the Reagan White House and served as John M. Olin Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute. Newsweek listed him as one of the country's most prominent Asian Americans.

Bart D. Ehrman is the James A. Gray Distinguished Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He came to UNC in 1988, after four years of teaching at Rutgers University. At UNC he has served as both the Director of Graduate Studies and the Chair of the Department of Religious Studies. A graduate of Wheaton College (Illinois), Professor Ehrman received both his Masters of Divinity and Ph.D. from Princeton Theological Seminary, where his 1985 doctoral dissertation was awarded magna cum laude.
