The Stevens Center for Innovation in Finance held an installment of the FinTech Lecture Series with John Coates, Deputy Dean and Professor of Law and Economics at Harvard Law School. Professor Coates discusses his book, The Problem of Twelve: When a Few Financial Institutions Control Everything. The “problem of twelve” arises when a small number of institutions acquire the means to exert outsized influence over the politics and economy of a nation. Professor Coates’ lecture examines the ramifications of this problem, and how we’ve gotten to this point.
