Silt was written by Jim Burke and was broadcast on BBC Radio 4 on July 19, 2005.
Featuring the late, great Sam Kelly, it's based on a true incident in 1906 whereby an unknown person was reported to have fallen in a lake in the Greater Manchester area. As crowds gathered to wait for the body to re-surface, a holiday atmosphere developed.
The Times described Silt as “a fine cross between comedy, macabre Edwardian melodrama and just plain drama” while The Stage and Television Today described it as “eloquent and elegant”
If you enjoyed this one, try my other Radio 4 play Bestiary, also featuring Sam Kelly.
