In this video I predict how web 3 tech will improve the quality of the internet.

Currently on the web we sort content based upon how much engagement or attention it receives…

…because there is a financial incentive to capture eyeballs for advertising.

However, this is suboptimal because there is little financial incentive for actually creating valuable content…

…and instead the people who get rewarded the most are those who are best at grabbing attention.

Which is why we have problems with fake news, clickbait, and time sucks on the internet.

If instead we had an easy, frictionless way to pay content creators directly. With micropayments…

Then we could start having the market rank content based upon value. In other words, you’ll be able to save time by just buying the best content that is ranked by price.

I also think that having an immutable history in the blockchain will allow us to start ranking content based upon the author’s merit.

I show an example of how Ray Dalio has a merit system in his company that could be applied more broadly to the internet at large.
