Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterised by inattention, hyperactivity, impulsivity or both. It has traditionally been recognised as a childhood condition.
However, the current population estimations put 4.4 to 5.2% of adults aged 18 to 44 years old as currently suffering from ADHD.
ADHD can impair psychosocial functioning and impair quality of life significantly.
Clinical assessment should be supplemented with questionnaires for the patient including collateral information and childhood history.
