On April 1, 1987, President Ronald Reagan spoke to the College of Physicians on their 200th anniversary. He discussed the prosperous history of American medicine and its future. He also discussed the growing cost of medical care in the country, and how it could be alleviated by getting the government out of the healthcare industry.
