The City post-Brexit: A monthly review of key developments, with Barney Reynolds (Shearman and Sterling) and Jonathan Herbst (Norton Rose Fulbright)

Why you should watch: No real progress on equivalence, but a lot of issues still to be resolved. On clearing, European civil law just doesn't cut the mustard, but that hasn't stopped the Commission from trying to prise business away from London. Ditto on FinTech - and maybe London isn't doing enough to sell itself (though there is a nod from both our speakers in the direction of the 'scale box'). Other issues for this month include the Lugano Convention, Libor (and what its replacement will mean), the LCF affair (which has highlighted the 'perimeter' problem for regulators), and how to regulate cryptos.

Moderator: Andrew Hilton (Director, CSFI)

Panellists:

Barney Reynolds is the global head of the financial services industry group, and a member of the executive group, at Shearman and Sterling. He was educated at Cambridge, but is a member of the Development Board at Oxford's Law Faculty and a Fellow at the Center for Advanced Legal Studies in Houston.

Jonathan Herbst is a partner and global head of financial services regulation at Norton Rose Fulbright. He is also a member of the Law Society's financial services subcommittee.
