There are several designs of the hydraulic ram pump but the one that I like the best is the "inline" model shown here. This design is based off the Clemson design. All parts are PVC except for the brass check valve and innertube. This video shows how to make a 1-1/4" ram pump but you can use this design to make a smaller or larger pump just keep the check valves the same.
