First we’ll make the honey butter. Combine 2 tablespoons of softened butter with 2 tablespoons of honey, and stir to blend. This also makes the perfect honey butter to serve with your biscuits.

Honey Baked Ham Sugar Glaze Recipe
Combine the sugar and remaining spices, and mix well.

Begin preheating the broiler to HIGH. Unwrap the ham and dry it off with paper towels. Trim up any loose ends or extra fat if necessary. Gently separate the slices, so some of the honey and glaze can drip down between the slices, and so it's easier to serve.

Generously dust the ham with the sugar mixture, patting it onto the honey coating. If your spiral slices begin to lean, you’ll want to secure them until the sugar glaze has hardened. Broil the ham for several minutes, so the sugar gets bubbly and caramelized. Watch it closely. Remove it from the oven, and add another coating of the sugar mixture while the sugar is still hot, and broil again. Remove it from the oven and let it sit while you make the sugar glaze.

In a small saucepan, combine 3 tablespoons of water with about 1/2 cup of the sugar mixture. Cook this over medium high heat, stirring, and bring it to a boil. Cook for a few minutes, so the sugar is melted. Spoon the glaze over the top of the sugar crusted ham. Then broil again for just a few minutes, watching it carefully so it doesn’t burn.

Let this rest for 5 - 10 minutes before serving, so the glaze can harden. If making this a day or two ahead of time, allow to cool then gently wrap it in foil, and refrigerate. Then just take it out of the fridge 30 minutes before serving!
