First look review of the new #MercedesAMG #E63 S model in sedan form, finished in the new “high tech silver” as first seen in the AMG GT Black Series! It’s been the consistently most viewed car on RBR, and today we check out all the details of the facelift and some history!

The E63’s lineage is the most relevant of any AMG, because it was truly the E that has stood out in each generation as the best that AMG have to offer in terms of bandwidth, and indeed value for money.

The first customer car to truly put AMG on the map was the 1986 AMG 124, when AMG implanted the 5.0-liter V8 in an E-class coupe, quickly and aptly named “The Hammer”. It is the blue print for our cars today, wide body, brutal engine, and super car performance. The hammer flew to 60 in 5 seconds, at a time when cars like the Ferrari testarossa were doing 0-60 in 5.5 seconds!!

Today’s Pre-facelift E63 #AMG, was for me the class leader in dynamic ability particularly in steering feel, and was the first to start the trend of switchable real wheel drive monster family cars, soon followed by the M5. But one thing it certainly wasn’t was super comfortable, a prize that ironically goes to the standard M5!

It also to my eyes looked a lot more S63 and C63, particularly from the rear. And spent most of it’s life with a face that was not in keeping with newer AMGs with the more aggressive face. And an outdated operating system to boot!

The facelift now looks like a whole new car outside, and treats you like a new car inside too. You also get a new 20” wheel option, and non S gets the amg dynamic pack option with:

- Red callipers
- Dynamic steering wheel
- Steering wheel buttons
- Race Mode
- Drift mode
- Brakes for non-S

Techincally, the Car seems unchanged with the same power output of 612BHP paired to the AMG speed shift 9 speed, but there’s more to unpack as today we explore:

- 1986 500e Hammer w124
- W210 E55 AMG
- W211 E63 AMG
- W212 E63S AMG
- W213 AMG E63S pre facelift
- W213 Facelift
- Design vs old E63
- Suspension changes
- Performance, engine and gearbox
- Exterior Walkaround
- Interior details
- Sound check - exhaust start up/revs

Up next on on RBR is the GLA 35, Porsche Macan Turbo, Cayenne GTS, Taycan Turbo S, New E Class, New S Class and MUCH MUCH More!! Subscribe to support us and see them first. :)
