Bugatti has revealed the Bolide concept - a lightweight, track-focused hyper-car and it’s Bugatti's way of showing off what the 8.0 Liter, quad turbo W16 engine can actually do.

In the Bugatti Bolide, the turbos have been upgraded and instead of producing a mere 1500hp like it does in the Chiron, here it puts out an incredible 1825 horsepower and 1364 lb-ft of torque.

0-60 mph takes about 2.17 seconds with a top speed of over 310mph.

Some other changes include de-throttling the intake, an upgraded dry sump oil system and an introduction of an air-to-air intercooler.

On the outside, 40 percent of the Bugatti Bolide's surfaces actually have paint on them while the rest of the body is exposed carbon fiber.

You have massive openings in the hood that expose the suspension and the wheels are super light magnesium center-lock wheels that weigh only 16.3 pounds in front and 18.5 pounds in the rear.

On top of that the Bugatti Bolide has carbon-ceramic rotors with lightweight calipers. In the back, there is the largest single graphic element of the car, the X shaped tail lights.

Bugatti says they are inspired by those of the Bell X-1 jet aircraft of the late 1940s, which was piloted by Captain Chuck Yeager, the first person to break the sound barrier.

Bugatti has yet to decide whether or not the Bolide will go into production. As of now it's just a one off but I have a feeling the interest will be massive from wealthy buyers to build a limited number of Bolides for their private collections.

This could also be a preview of a future race car from Bugatti. Would be great timing since there will be a completely new “Hyper Car” class in next years 24h of Le Mans.
