The Samsung W2016 is a flip phone with two 3.9-inch Super AMOLED touchscreens, a 16 MP rear camera, and a 5 MP front camera. It is part of the Galaxy Golden line of high-end (flagship) flip phones, updated annually.

The Samsung W2016 is more powerful than other Android-powered flip phones, such as the Galaxy Folder, Galaxy Folder2, LG Wine, LG Smart Folder, Cat S22 Flip, as well as KaiOS flip phones (i.e. Alcatel MyFlip, Nokia Flip). It supports both wired and Qi wireless charging methods and has a built in heart rate detection system able to display heart rate data in real time. Specs are similar to the Samsung Galaxy S6 from the same year.

This line of high-end flip phones is mostly sold in Asia markets (including China, Japan, Korea), targeting business professionals and executives who want to have a "retro" styled, modern smartphone. Phone calls can be satisfyingly ended by closing the hinge. Build quality and specs otherwise matches that of Samsung's flagship S series device from the same year.

The original Samsung Galaxy Golden (aka W2013) debuted in 2013, with models being refreshed each year since (i.e. W2014 - onwards). Buyers of the phone receive exclusive concierge and VIP services.

Successors to W2016 include:
The Samsung W2017, which updates to Android 6.0 Marshmallow and includes dual 1080p Super AMOLED touchscreens, one on the outside and one on the inside. It also has a 12 MP f/1.9 main camera with 4K video recording support, and a 5MP front shooter. The processor is upgraded to the Snapdragon 820 aligning with the Samsung Galaxy S7 series.

The Samsung W2018 is a flip phone that was released in 2018, further upgrading the processor to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 and has 6GB of RAM - aligning with the Samsung Galaxy S8 series.

The Samsung W2019 is a high-end flip phone with Android 8.1 Oreo pre-installed. The processor is further upgraded to Snapdragon 845 and includes dual aperture adjustments on the primary camera. Specs are similar to the Galaxy S9 series.

The Samsung W20 5G (rebranded from W2020) is a foldable phone with 5G capabilities. The processor is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ with 12 GB ram, 512 GB storage, The Samsung W20 5G is an improved and rebranded version of the Galaxy Fold.
