The pandemic has cast a harsh spotlight on nursing homes and has come to reveal a much larger dilemma, “traditional” nursing home models have been failing the nation’s most vulnerable people for decades. And as over 120,000 residents and staff in nursing homes lose their lives due to COVID, the nation is becoming desensitized to these death tolls. Vice News Tonight follows an elderly set of craigslist style housemates who are very much alive and see how their situation is a better and safer option than the nation's current solution for elder care.
