Indian Navy Rescues Crude Oil Tanker Attacked by Houthi Missile in the Red Sea

The Indian destroyer INS Kochi intercepted the Panama-flagged merchant vessel Andromeda Star after it was attacked by Houthi forces in the Red Sea on April 26. The navy's explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) specialists boarded the vessel to assess the remaining risks. Before the EOD team boarded, a helicopter conducted an aerial reconnaissance to evaluate the situation. The merchant vessel, bound for India, had 30 crew members, including 22 Indians, all reported safe. The vessel continued its journey to the next port as scheduled. The Indian navy, with over 10 warships in the region, has thwarted piracy attempts and responded to distress calls from merchant ships attacked by missiles and drones.
