There’s a lot of seemingly arbitrary nonsense in introductory quantum mechanics (QM). When Sean had to learn it, he thought he’d just memorize it first and wait on understanding until he had a better perspective and more experience. It’s been 4 years and he's still waiting.
Here Sean will share a narrative to motivate some of QM and show how parts of it arise in a natural way from an attempt to explain a handful of experimental facts.
The talk will cover a derivation of Schrodinger’s equation, operators and the Uncertainty Principle, and basic field theory.
No prerequisites are required. This talk is aimed at people who hate and fear QM.
And if you wish, any feedback to the speaker through https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FA... will be highly appreciated!
