narration of the story followed by 4 lessons:

1. We live in a culture of materialism which refuses to share wealth just like the people of the garden. In the short term, it might look like they're winning. Long term, you'll lose the blessing of your wealth, if not the wealth itself

2. Never underestimate the tradition of your forefathers. The father of the people of the garden had a system that worked. He fed his family, strangers, and reinvested in his garden. The children thought they can do better than the father by keeping the strangers out. We shouldn't dismiss traditions that worked out for a long time

3. If you want to preserve your blessings, be grateful. One definite way of being grateful is to share your blessings with others

4. Some mistakes are fatal. The people of the garden lost their garden forever. In our society we tend to downplay mistakes thinking that we'll always have a second chance. Well sometimes you don't.
