The opposition parties have alleged that the chats reveal how financial frauds took place and that people occupying high posts were involved. They have also raised national security concerns over the chats. Rahul Gandhi, commenting on the WhatsApp chats of TV anchor Arnab Goswami linked to the 2019 Balakot air strike, said "giving official secrets to a journalist is a criminal act" and targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi directly over the leak.
