Hardly any other archipelago attracts holidaymakers as magically as the Cyclades in Greece. The blue and white paradise around Santorini is one of the most beautiful places in Europe. Author Natascha Rhein has traveled to four different Cyclades islands and presents an "island hopping" for later trips. Santorini - the world's largest balcony of vanities, the ultimate Instagram stronghold, photographed millions of times. Romantics feel like they're in paradise here, and the selfie crowd patiently queue at the best hot spots. Wine lovers will also get their money's worth here, as the island is Greece's oldest wine-growing region.

Milos - if you like it a little quieter, "hop" with the ferry to Milos, the westernmost island of the Cyclades. The lunar landscape "Sarakiniko" is spectacular, the fishing village climate with its "Syrmata", the colorful houses built directly on the waterline, is fascinating. The Chora of Plaka picturesque. The most famous islander is certainly the "Venus de Milo", which was once found by a Greek farmer. Today she is one of the stars of the Louvre in Paris.

Koufonissi - The Cyclades are surrounded by impressive blue and crystal clear waters; most of the beaches can be found on Koufonissi. The mini island is just four kilometers long. Mass tourism? None! The main attractions of the island are the beaches and the sea. Koufonissi is traded as "the Caribbean of Greece" and especially at Pori Beach you could easily forget that you are bathing in the European Mediterranean.

Amorgos - Even filmmaker Luc Besson hypnotized the Cycladic blue of the sea. One of the most spectacular and lesser known islands in Greece is Amorgos. The famous film “The Big Blue” was filmed on Amorgos. Even the journey by ship is impressive, as if out of nowhere a huge mountain ridge suddenly appears, which juts out of the sea and stretches over 30 kilometers in length. The landscape is rough and not at all lovely, but incredibly fascinating and a real hiker's paradise. Since the 9th century, the rock monastery of Hozoviotissa has clung like a swallow's nest to a vertical cliff several hundred meters high. If you want to convince yourself that it is actually a building and not a hallucination, you have to make the strenuous climb - and perhaps you will hear the unforgettable ringing of the bells of Papa Spiridon, who has been a priest in the rock monastery for 50 years , rewarded.
Very close to the monastery you can dive into the depths of Amorgos, just like when Luc Besson was filming - without an oxygen tank, of course. Freedivers from all over the world travel to Amorgos to float weightlessly through the dazzling underwater world in the "most beautiful blue in the world".
