This early refresh of the DJI Air 2 brings a much larger sensor for the main camera (1" CMOS) and a truly useful front-upward facing camera. While this may not warrant an upgrade from the Air 2, the Air 2S makes the already amazing drone even better (duh). This All-In-One drone features a foldable design that allows it to be packed into a very small carry bag, or in my case, inside my camera bag!

The main camera can now record 5.4K footage at 30 frames per second. Photos are captured at 20MP with options to create stunning panoramas and 360 views at the push of a button. The autonomous flight is arguably the best in its class and will allow many new drone operators to pick this up with confidence. It simply will not let you crash into anything going forward! Sideways and backward is a little less confidence-inspiring but it does get around obstacles pretty well.

I keep the drone in line of sight so I haven't been able to exceed the promised 12km range. This will require registration with the FAA since it is well over the 249g (0.55lb) weight limit. I personally have the FAA Part 107 license as well due to my intended use, but recreational flyers will not need it. Please fly responsibly so we don't cause more trouble for the industry. The new laws are going to require more and more restrictions which may cause these none-ID broadcasting drones (this Air 2S included) to become grounded in a couple years. The DJI App does a great job informing pilots where they can and cannot fly, so this should help with the overall state of drone flying in the world.
