The Nissan GT-R is getting pretty long in the tooth. Yes it’s had a couple of refreshes over the years, but underneath the Nissan GT-R is a car that was developed in 2007 and has been tweaked and tweaked over the following 14 years.

Now there is a new version of the Nissan GT-R, the latest one that’s been fiddled with by Nissan’s motorsport masters Nismo. This one has over 600hp and 600Nm of torque and a huge amount of aero and weight saving carbon-fibre. This may well be the last version of the Nissan GT-R that we ever get, especially from Nismo, so it should be something special.

Underpinned by some incredible technology and an all-wheel-drive system that will go down in legend, the GT-R had set a standard for new supercars. But now most of the competition features the same sort of control and ease of use that the GT-R championed last decade.

Is it still a car that can be used today? Or has the original car for the digital age been usurped by the competition?
