The 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback might not be the hottest hatchback around, but that doesn’t mean it’s not one of the sweetest drivers on the road.

First things first, the Honda Civic Hatchback won’t get confused with a Civic Si, and it definitely won’t be mistaken for a Civic Type R. While those cars bring serious performance to the everyman, the Civic Hatchback is a sporty-looking variant of the standard Civic. Albeit, the Sport and Sport Touring trims do boost horsepower from 174 in lesser trims to 180, and torque grows from 162 pound-feet to 177 when you select the 6-speed manual transmission rather than the continuously variable transmission (CVT).
The hatchback design adds cargo capacity, and the total figure behind the rear seats is actually larger than an HR-V’s, at 25.2 cubic feet. With the rear seats folded, however, the HR-V bests the Civic Hatchback’s 46.2 total cubic feet. Up front, the 7-inch touchscreen runs Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the Sport Touring trim included a 12-speaker sound system.
Honda also includes a range of advanced safety features, labeled as the Honda Sensing suite. Pricing starts at $22,580 MSRP for a base EX trim and rises to the Sport Touring’s starting MSRP of $28,050.
