Located in the eastern part of Utah in the western United States, Moab stands as the largest city and serves as the county seat of Grand County. Renowned for its breathtaking scenery, the population of Moab was recorded at 5 thousand 362 residents in 2024. The city is a major draw for tourists, particularly those exploring the nearby Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. Moab has become a favored hub for outdoor enthusiasts, attracting both mountain bikers who navigate the extensive trail system, such as the renowned Slickrock Trail, and off-roaders who converge for the annual Moab Jeep Safari.

The term Moab from the Bible designates a region situated on the eastern bank of the Jordan River. Certain historians propose that the city in Utah adopted this name due to William Andrew Pierce, its inaugural postmaster, perceiving parallels between the biblical Moab and this particular area in Utah as both being deemed "the far country." Conversely, some assert that the name has Paiute roots, originating from the term moapa, signifying "mosquito."
