It’s clear that electric vehicles (EVs) are more efficient in their energy usage than their gas-powered counterparts. But is there much difference in how efficient EVs are relative to one another? It turns out there can be some huge swings. The EV you choose has a long-term effect on your personal electric bill, so it pays to choose wisely.

This list of Canada’s most efficient EVs is based on the kWh/100 km measurements listed in the Battery Electric Vehicles section of Natural Resources Canada’s 2024 Fuel Consumption Guide. It’s kilowatt-hours of energy that EVs use for propulsion, and that’s what you’ll pay for when you plug your vehicle in at home.
