Automatic high beams are a great safety feature that can help you see better at night, but they're not for everyone. If you prefer to control your high beams manually, or if you're having trouble with your automatic high beams, here's how to turn them off or on on your 2018-2024 GM truck or SUV:

To turn on automatic high beams:

Make sure your headlights are on.
Turn the headlamp control knob to the AUTO position.
Press the button on the turn signal lever labeled "INTELLIBEAM."
A green "A" icon will appear in the instrument cluster to indicate that automatic high beams are enabled.

To turn off automatic high beams:

Press the button on the turn signal lever labeled "INTELLIBEAM" again.
The green "A" icon in the instrument cluster will disappear.

You can also turn off automatic high beams by:

Turning the headlamp control knob to the LOW position.
Using the flash-to-pass feature.
Driving below 25 mph.

If you're having trouble with your automatic high beams, here are a few things to check:

1. Make sure your headlights are on.
2. Make sure the headlamp control knob is in the AUTO position.
3. Make sure the button on the turn signal lever labeled "INTELLIBEAM" is pressed.
4. Make sure the windshield sensor is clean and unobstructed.
5. If you're still having problems, take your vehicle to a GM dealer for assistance.

Here are some additional tips for using automatic high beams:

-Automatic high beams may not work properly in all conditions, such as fog, rain, or snow.
-Be aware of your surroundings and be prepared to turn off the automatic high beams manually if necessary.
-Use the flash-to-pass feature to signal oncoming drivers that you're dimming your high beams.

Here is a more detailed explanation of how automatic high beams work:

Automatic high beams use a sensor located at the top center of the windshield to detect oncoming and preceding vehicles. When the sensor detects a vehicle, the system automatically dims the high beams to low beams. When the sensor no longer detects a vehicle, the system automatically turns the high beams back on.

Automatic high beams are a great safety feature, but they're not perfect. It's important to be aware of their limitations and to use them safely.
